Sometimes only an Indian takeaway will do – and it’s the weekend, so the perfect time to indulge.
Whether it’s a hot and spicy vindaloo or a milder korma, you can’t beat a curry after a long week at work.
Let’s face it – nobody wants to cook on the weekend if they can help themselves.

However, the takeout must be worth the wait. There’s nothing worse than dreaming about that appetizing meal all day only to have a tasteless, soggy mess showing up on the doorstep.
Many people have their favorite Indian restaurant – whether because of location or tradition, but what about those who don’t?
It can be difficult to decide which one to visit, especially since everyone claims that their local is the best.
There are many high quality Indian restaurants and takeaways in East Staffordshire and South Derbyshire, and many of them have received excellent ratings and excellent reviews from impressed customers on TripAdvisor.
But which are the cleanest? We’ve looked at all the Chinese takeaways at Burton, Uttoxeter and South Derbyshire to see how the Food Standards Agency (FSA) rates them – and compiled a list of those with the highest score.
Food Standards Agency inspections are carried out by the local authority and the findings are updated on the FSA website each time a new council inspection is carried out.
How are places rated?
- The degree of hygiene with which food is handled – how it is prepared, cooked, reheated, cooled and stored,
- The structural condition of buildings – cleanliness, layout, lighting, ventilation and other facilities,
- How the company manages what it does to ensure food is safe and so the agent can be confident that standards will be maintained in the future.
Premises are assessed following a scheduled but unannounced inspection by environmental health officers.
When premises are not up to standard, officers carry out a series of interventions, including notices, visits or more formal actions depending on the conditions found, with the aim of restoring the premises to a generally compliant condition. .
What do the ratings mean?
- 5 – Hygiene standards are very good
- 4 – Hygiene standards are good
- 3 – Hygiene standards are generally satisfactory
- 2 – Some improvements are needed
- 1 – A major improvement is needed
- 0 – Urgent improvement is required
