Farley’s B&B in Calhoun

Right off the bat, I’ll make a confession about national apple day…while I love apple pie, I usually choose something else if I have a choice of dessert and the all-time American classic is one of the options.

Sure, it’s delicious, but I never felt it was very exciting. I feel the same way about cheesecake; don’t faint. But something happened about three years ago that changed my view of apple pie.

FARLEY’S BED & BREAKFAST IN CALHOUN KY

It was in the summer of 2019 when Angel told me about a cool place the tri-state list should visit. SPOILER ALERT… she was right. When she said we had to visit Farley’s, I said I’m open to any suggestions. That’s pretty much how we’ve run the Bucket List over the years, anyway. So upon further investigation we learned that it was a bed & breakfast. And it added a little extra spice to our trip. Not only were we able to give viewers a visual sample of menu items, but we were able to document a tour of the beautiful inn.

And by the way, Farley’s isn’t the only beautiful aspect of downtown Calhoun KY. This quaint little town is begging for a movie shoot. I know I’m still beating that drum, but this city is truly perfect for such an endeavor.

A MAGNIFICENT RETURN TO APPLE PIE ON THE OCCASION OF NATIONAL APPLE DAY

While everything on the menu may look like what you’d expect, Farley’s amazing staff tweaked everything and made it even more special. And that brings me back to this delicious apple pie. I can honestly tell you that this is among the three best pieces of pie I have ever eaten. And maybe at that moment I felt like it was the best. I certainly don’t have memories of OTHER pies like I do of Farley’s apple pie.

Pair this pie with the rest of our lunch that day and I can confirm we were stuffed when we left.

The cozy inn is still in operation today, and the future is bright. But for now, we’ll step back into the PAST and give you a sample of Farley’s Bed & Breakfast.

The Food and Atmosphere at Hawesville’s Riverview Restaurant

The Riverview Restaurant has been in Hawesville since the 60s. But it has a new owner in 2021 and big changes are coming to the small restaurant. We have to go in and sample some of their offerings and take in the amazing view. Oh, and the homemade pie…is…delicious! Definitely worth the drive to Hawesville to check out this amazing restaurant! Visit them on Facebook or just stop at 2220 Indian Lake Drive, Hawesville, KY, and enjoy.

The Fabulous Food Haul at Schnitzelbank in Jasper

That it took me until 2021 to visit Schnitzelbank in Jasper will have to be a future episode of Unsolved Mysteries. In the meantime, feast your eyes on this tri-state icon and the real PARTY inside.
