Heavy construction near Chicken-N-Spice restaurant
JOLIET, IL – Last week heavy construction equipment from D Construction in Coal City was busy demolishing the parking lot behind the Chicken-N-Spice restaurant in downtown Joliet. In recent days, work has shifted to Webster Street where construction cranes have torn the street. Sometimes the work can get quite noisy.
What is happening? Are these D Construction teams about to raze the beloved Chicken-N-Spice restaurant in Joliet?
Don’t worry, Joliet.
Chicken-N-Spice is here to stay.
The construction project is affiliated with the downtown Joliet Junior College campus, just across from Chicken-N-Spice.
JJC officials told Patch that construction work around the perimeter of the culinary arts building will include landscaping and the creation of a pedestrian zone.
As part of the project, Webster Street is closed and free to traffic.
According to JJC, the summer construction work will also include the addition of lighting on the north side of the JJC building.
