Iconic IN Drive-In Restaurant keeps new owner in the family

Over the weekend I saw some awesome news posted on Facebook. Now, if you’re on social media, hardly at all, you know that good news is a rare thing.
What would you say this for good news?
The beloved and iconic drive-in restaurant, Zesto plans to be around for much longer. Yes, everything we all love about Zesto will continue under new ownership.
A Brief History of Zesto and the Hardesty Family
According to Peg Hardesty,
Todd’s parents were Tom and Pat Hardesty. Married in 1955 and had 11 children from 1957 to 1978 Dan is the 3rd oldest. Todd is the “middle” child. When they bought Zesto in March 1971, they lived a few blocks away on the corner of Ravenswood and Grand. Pat looked after the books and the children Children who were 10 and over and born at the time worked at Zesto until they were at least 18, including the last 3 born after 1971. Dan has left Zesto and worked briefly then returned and eventually he and Mary bought the restaurant and property from his parents. They have been running it ever since.
What we love about Zesto
The best gentle service I have ever had. In general, I’ve had better desserts in Indiana than anywhere else in the US. We had a chocolate and vanilla medium serve which was bigger than expected but still finished it all. Delicious! – Julie T.
I love love love this place. Filet or burgers, you can’t go wrong. Small joint occupied for years. I went to visit my mother and went to Zestos. Mom Gary and I used to take trips there just to eat. If you are ever in Evansville Indiana. MUST VISIT!! – Debbie M.
I love Zesto. It’s a nostalgic nod to days gone by. There are only meals in the open air or to take away. I highly recommend the Double Z! -Kelly S.
