Mayami, the Wynwood hot spot inspired by Tulum, offers a Miami Spice menu

MIAMI — Mayami, a Tulum-inspired Wynwood hotspot with a restaurant and 300-seat indoor-outdoor lounge, joined Miami Spice 2022 with a fun dinner menu.
Philippe Kalifa opened the 10,000 square foot nightlife haven in November 2020 inspired by the neo-Mayan architectural style of the 1920s and 30s.
“We have graffiti from the Mayan civilization,” Kalifa said, adding that he wants his guests to “have the full experience” with a “great” dinner and show while feeling both “the outdoor vibe and the more relaxed atmosphere inside”.
Executive Chef Juan Carlos Flores’ Miami Spice menu stays true to its fusion of Mexican and Mediterranean cuisine. It offers two appetizer options: An Elote with cotija, garlic aioli and chilli piquin and Crispy tuna with sesame, chives and serrano.
The three entree options are grouper A La Verazcruzana, a seared sea bass; The Fillete Negro, lime grasshopper beef jus with mashed apples, and the Fideo Seco, a Mexican-style pasta with sour cream, queso fresco and Maitake mushrooms.

“I like using mushrooms for this dish because it gives it another earthy element,” Flores said.
Dessert is the Xocolate Mouse Layered Chocolate Cake.
The Mexicantina offers the pre-set Spice menu for $45 from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., every day except Friday and Saturday, through September. Kalifa wants the guests to stay after dinner.
“We have lots of shows with fire artists, acrobats, lots of different things,” Kalifa said.
As midnight approaches, dancers, performers and music take over until 3 a.m. Monday through Sunday at 127 NW 23 St. Reservations are available on OpenTable. Specialty cocktails are not included, but Happy Hour offers are Monday through Friday. For more information, go to the venue page.
