De Laurentiis has the easiest method for a simple pasta sauce that takes a minute to make. It doesn’t even require a complicated recipe.

She showed off how to put together “the easiest cheese sauce you can make” in a YouTube video and it’s certainly perfect for a quick weekday dinner.

After cooking pasta, the Food Network host drained it and set aside the water for the pasta. She added a few ladles full of pasta water to a saucepan. Then De Laurentiis added 3 cups of Parmesan to the water. “I use Parmesan because it’s my favorite and Jade’s, but you can use any cheese you want,” she explained.

De Laurentiis stirred the cheese until it melted. “You can always add a little more water to the paste to thin it out,” she noted. She seasoned the sauce with salt and added a tablespoon of butter.

She put the cooked pasta in the pan, added some frozen peas for “a little color” and mixed everything together.

De Laurentiis has a few simple tips to make gravy in a jar more delicious.

If you opt for a jar of store-bought sauce, De Laurentiis offers some simple tips to make it taste even better. In a 2020 Giadzy post, the Food Network star shared her “tips for taking marinara from good to great!”

“Let’s face it – in a perfect world we would make homemade pomodoro every night, but in reality we grab the jar of store-bought marinara quite often,” she explained. “While there are a lot of great sauces available at the grocery store, sometimes we find the need to boost the flavor a bit. A little extra spice, herbs, cheese – there are all kinds of things you can do to improve store-bought marinara sauce.

De Laurentiis recommends tasting the sauce before adding anything to it, as different brands and types of sauces have different flavors.

She likes to “add flavor” by adding onion and garlic which she cooks for a few minutes in olive oil. De Laurentiis also likes to add sprigs of basil for the “quintessential mild Italian flavor” and a twist of Parmigiano Reggiano for “a rich, salty flavor”. For extra spice, she adds Calabrian pepper paste or red pepper flakes.

Finally, the site notes that the butter is a small improvement that can have a huge impact. “Giada swears to add a tablespoon of butter to his tomato sauce at the very end,” the post explains. “Even a small amount of butter can completely change the texture of the sauce, making it smoother and creamier!
